Matthew "Matt" Willie is a Managing Partner at Roberts & Willie, PLLC.  His practice focuses on corporate law, with an emphasis on representing large private equity companies in a variety of transactions.  Matt graduated summa cum laude from BYU Law School and began his legal career in the Houston office of Latham & Watkins, LLP, where he worked on high-dollar acquisitions and divestitures as a member of the firm's oil and gas team.

Matt has extensive experience drafting and negotiating non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).  Together with Trent Roberts, the firm’s other Managing Partner, Matt oversees a team of attorneys that processes hundreds of NDAs each month for a growing list of private equity clients.

Matt also has significant experience within the energy industry.  Prior to attending law school, he worked for several years as a field landman, handling title-related projects for exploration and production companies operating throughout the Rocky Mountain region.  Throughout his career as an attorney, Matt has regularly represented oil companies in a diverse range of matters, including preparing and reviewing title opinions and drafting and negotiating lease contracts and related agreements.  He is currently general counsel to a closely held oil and gas company with assets located throughout the Williston Basin of North Dakota and Montana.

Matt grew up in Wyoming where he currently lives with his wife and four boys.

Matt and Trent recognize the enormous demand among sophisticated clients for high-quality representation at affordable rates.  They are dedicated to ensuring that Roberts & Willie continues to fulfill its mission of providing an alternative to the overbilling and lack of transparency inherent in the large law firm model.
